Order Korean Grocery Online

Los Angeles is probably the best city for most Koreans who want or need to live outside Korea because it has the largest Korean community. Living in this favored city, especially for the first five years in Koreatown, I’ve taken it for granted that I can get almost everything Korean with a quick driving. I’ve never felt the necessity to order Korean grocery online.

But now that online shopping is more common, even for grocery, and there are obviously a lot of Koreans and non-Koreans who are interested in buying Korean products and yet don’t have an easy access to them, I thought there should be some online Korean grocery shopping sites. And here they are!

KoaMart
http://www.koamart.com/

Koamart carries a large selection for Korean groceries, kitchenware, Korean DVDs, cosmetic and beauty products. Some of popular groceries that the store has, is ramyun, ginseng, ready-made rice and noodles, kimchi, dry seaweed, instant soups, and so on. The site also offers some popular Chinese and Japanese food.

It’s located in Los Angeles, California, but their delivery is available nationwide. Their shipping is carried by UPS Ground and expedited options (as of December, 2008). They accept PayPal payment as well as
major credit card payment.

HMart

HMart, started as a small “off-line” grocery store in 1982 in Woodside, New York, has grown to a nationwide Korean grocery chain with 30 stores in 12 states (New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia, Illinois, Texas, Columbia, Oregon, Washington and California) and 5 regional warehouses.

HMart, with H standing for “Healthy”, “Humane”, “Happy” and “Heartful”, carries a vast variety of Korean products including popular Korean groceries, appliance, cosmetics, chinaware, baby / kid products, calling cards and so on. HMart also offers useful service such as “buy together” - the more customers buy a product together, the cheaper the product gets - and delivery service to Korea. Coupons and life style articles are another attraction of this site.

Their price and shipping rates are competitive.

Flaming Cabbage

Flaming Cabbage offers common Korean groceries including ramen, kimchi, instant food, tea, drinks and many more. The site also carries organic beans, flour, rice, noodles, and tea. Their price is a little higher compared to other online and off-line Korean grocery stores.

This site can be a better choice for those who are located on the east coast and want fast shipping as the company is in Wayne, New Jersey.

For shipping estimates, check their About Us page. Their product pages offer features such as “Tell a Friend”, “Write Review / Comment”, and “Customers who bought this also bought…”.

Asian Food Grocer
www.asianfoodgrocer.com

Asian Food Grocer offers a wide selection of Asian groceries such as Chinese, Japanese, Philippine and Korean food. The site carries more Japanese and Chinese groceries than Korean, customers can buy popular Korean food such as ramyun, instant noodles, BBQ sauce. Their catalog includes rice, noodles, beverages, soups, snacks, and seasonings.

Its parent company started the business as a wholesaler of Asian food in San Francisco, California and Asian Food Grocer has grown to a nationwide online grocery store. Available shipping options are USPS Priority or FedEx.
